The big cosplay contest for national and international cosplayers is all about your creative skills and a thrilling performance. Show off your costume and show the audience your cosplay in action! Our international jury will judge the performance and the costume. In addition to the main prizes, there will be special prizes for the best craftsmanship and the best performance!

At the NEWCOMERS Cosplay Contest we celebrate the joy of cosplay! Whether you're putting on a small show or just want to present your self-made costume - we're looking forward to lots of fun on and off stage. With the NEWCOMERS Cosplay Contest, we offer newcomers to the cosplay scene the opportunity to gain their first contest experience and get tips from the jury. The jury will evaluate the costume and performance. In addition to the main prizes, there are special prizes for the best craftsmanship and the best performance!

The jury consists of our international cosplay guests!
The judging is made up of the costume* (50%) and the presentation/performance (50%). Present your character, amaze the judges with some role play, make your robe twirl or your armor jingle! We are already looking forward to a rousing and unique cosplay experience.
The costume judging will focus on the following criteria: Accuracy and precision (accuracy), Accuracy and precision, finishing details, complexity and techniques, material choices, and overall jury appreciation.
In Performance Judging, the following criteria apply for evaluation: Acting and staging, quality and use of media, quality and use of media and props**, creativity and entertainment, coherence and skit understanding overall performance appreciation.
The jury consists of our national and international cosplay guests, 50% of whom judge the costume and 50% the presentation and performance.
Whether you want to put on a small show or focus on your self-made costume - we are looking forward to having fun on and off stage and are excited about your first (or second) appearance.
The costume judging will be based on the following criteria: Accuracy and Precision, Finishing Details, Complexity and Techniques, Material Choices and Overall Jury Appreciation.
The following criteria apply to the performance evaluation: Acting and Staging, Quality and Use of Media and Props**, Creativity and Entertainment, Coherence and Skit Understanding and Overall Performance Appreciation.
Please fill out the registration form and send it together with pictures of your costume (work in progress also possible) and an original picture of your character (will be used as a jury reference) to cosplay@zurichpopcon.ch. The cosplay for the ZURICH POP CON Cosplay Contest must be at least 80% self-made. For the Newcomers Cosplay Contest, at least 70% of the cosplay must be self-made. The cosplay you present at the contest must not have previously won an award at a cosplay contest (exceptions can be approved in writing by the organizer in advance). The minimum age for participation in the contest is 16 years. For the presentation of your character you can bring your own music and a background image. At the ZURICH POP CON Cosplay Contest, you can also submit a high-resolution video in 16:9 format as a background for your performance (unfortunately not possible for the Newcomers Cosplay Contest). Please send us the appropriately edited audio file and the high-resolution background image or video along with your registration. Cosplayers without their own music or background image will receive neutral background music and a neutral background image on stage.
Please let us know on which days you will be present and/or which contest you would like to participate in when you register. We will then make a pre-selection based on the information provided and send the selected cosplayers further information.
Our international jury will evaluate the cosplayers at the event in the backstage area. The award ceremony will take place on the big stage. All participants will receive a stage performance at the award ceremony. The contests will be recorded by us and can later be published online on our channels.
